This is one of the UK’s most important regeneration projects – and Silvertown is at its heart.
Once the world’s largest manmade expanse of water and London’s gateway to global trade. This unique waterfront is re-emerging as a commercial and cultural hub.
Down by the water, there’s plenty of space to grow. Together, the Royal Docks span 12 miles of waterfront, 2,200 acres of land, and 250 acres of water. A London Opportunity Area, the Docks also contain the capital’s only Enterprise Zone.
Over the next 20 years, the Greater London Authority is bringing forward seven new, mixed-use developments across the Royal Docks with the potential for up to 15,000 new homes, next-generation workspaces, offices, green space, schools and social amenities. With the majority of these homes built on publicly owned land, the Mayors of London and Newham are committed to ensuring the majority remain affordable.
The Royal Docks in London are also set to become a flourishing commercial district, complete with studios, makers yards and coworking spaces, as well as four million sq ft of high-quality workspace.
It’s hoped this new workplace and office space destination will attract more startups and industry giants to the water’s edge, while creating up to 55,500 new jobs – with many earmarked for local Newham residents.
EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING
With plans to create over 10,000 new jobs, plus 1,500 London Living Wage jobs during construction, the days of pride and opportunity are returning to the Royal Docks.
EDUCATION
Partnering with local schools and universities to open doors for students in London’s youngest and most ambitious borough.
